Kristen M. Miller, 33, homeless, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday after police were called to 500 First St. S. in reference to a dispute over keys. Miller gave the officer permission to search her bag. Inside was an empty syringe. Miller resisted while she was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia. Once in handcuffs she told police she had two more syringes on her chest. Once in the Jasper County Jail, Miller turned over two more syringes.

• Kevin L. Crady, 52, of Newton, was charged with operating while under the influence, first offense, at 12:08 a.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of Highway S74 South. Officials saw a vehicle swerving all over the road, it went onto the shoulder and into the gravel several times. Crady smelled of alcohol and had blood shot, watery eyes. Crady told officials he had drank five to seven beers. Crady gave a breath test result of more than .08, was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
