Ruby Elaine (Gooding) Stotts, 90, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Newton, died Saturday, April 1, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Wichita. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 7 at the funeral home. Memorials in Elaine’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Elaine, the daughter of Oby and Velma (Reavis) Gooding, was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Newton. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1945. Later that year on Aug. 8, Ruby was united in marriage with Gerald A. “Cotton” Stotts in Newton. Elaine and Cotton owned Stott’s West End Grocery in Newton, prior to her working at Jasper County Savings Bank as a bank officer and consumer loan officer. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Elaine loved her family and her dogs, Trixie, Stormy and Gizmo. The last couple of years, Elaine had lived with her daughter, Pam, in Wichita.

Elaine is survived by her daughters, Deb L. (Jerry) Ferrone of Newton and Pam (Lonnie) Piper of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren, Gina (David) Kenagy of Lakeville, Minn., Toni Ferrone (Jeff Warner) of Gardner, Kan., Callie (Taylor) Piper-Smith of Wichita,
Jennifer (Michael) Harris of Wichita and Brock Piper of Wichita; six great-grandchildren, Kaynen, Berkley and Stallone Warner, Lawson and Lucca Kenagy and Piper Harris; and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald "Cotton" Stotts in 1983; two brothers, Jim and Clark Gooding; and a sister, Margaret Louise McMahon.
