Kenneth Tague, 64, of Newton, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at his home in Newton. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at the Baxter Evangelical Free Church in Baxter. The family will greet friends following the memorial service. Memorials to the Baxter Evangelical Free Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital can be left at the church on the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.

Ken, the son of Neil Tague and Bernice Slifer, was born June 28, 1952. He graduated from Colfax High School and completed machinist school at Marshalltown Community College. He retired from Bridgestone/Firestone after working as a maintenance mechanic for many years. Ken had also served as a mechanic in the Air National Guard. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 310 and the Baxter Evangelical Free Church. Ken enjoyed racing and could be found at the Knoxville Raceway most Saturday nights.

Those left to honor Ken’s memory include his children, Christopher Tague (Kim Avila) of Des Moines and Melissa Tague of Newton; his grandson, Christopher Tague, Jr. of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; his mother, Bernice (Dale) Trout of Newton; his brothers, Virgil (Terri) Tague and Dennis Tague; and his sister-in-law, Tamyie Kingery. He was preceded in death by his dad; wife, Pamela; and a granddaughter at birth.
