Locals graduate from Get to Know Newton leadership class

The eight week Get to Know Newton Leadership class wrapped up March 28 with graduation and evaluation.

This years’ class had 19 participants. The well-rounded curriculum had sessions that dealt with economic development, city government and services, education and work force development needs and challenges, law enforcement and crisis management and health and human services. In addition, two sessions of Real Colors Profile were taught. Real Colors is a class favorite each after year.

Evelyn George served as facilitator, and at the graduation and evaluation she had each participant stand up and address the class and guests on what they learned from the class and how they would apply that knowledge going forward.

“Each year I’m impressed by the responses we get from each class,” said Frank Liebl, executive director of NDC. “What we’ve created are more ambassadors for our community, people that will be able to tell others how things are done, and help spread the positive things happening in Newton.”
