St. Luke hosting Last Supper Drama

St. Luke United Methodist Church is inviting all members of the community to come participate in the presentation of The Last Supper Drama at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. There will be a free will offering to be given to the Drama group to distribute to missions. Following the worship presentation, a potluck meal will be shared with the Jesus, Disciples and crew.

The Last Supper Drama is based on Leonardo DiVinci’s painting. The disciples arrive in the Upper Room, unaware of importance of the night’s significance, when Jesus startles them with the words, “One of you will betray Me.” They “freeze” into their positions at the table. Then one-by-one they each share their story about their relationship with Jesus.

The drama is provided by the United Methodist Men of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. They have been presenting the Last Supper Drama for almost 50 years with up to a dozen performances each year. It is a well-rehearsed and presented story that will touch the hearts and minds of its viewers. Especially moving is the moment that Jesus provides the Communion elements to the disciples and includes the congregation in attendance.
