Barbara Ann Poole

March 18, 2017

Barbara Ann Poole, the daughter of Wallace and Agnes (Albrecht) Poole, was born July 12, 1949, in Waterloo. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Rock Island, Ill., and went on to receive her sociology degree from Sacred Heart Academy in Wichita, Kan. Barb spent the majority of her working career caring for retired priests in their home. In her later years, Barb could be found in the crosswalk at Woodrow Wilson grade school shuttling children to and from school, a position she took very seriously and loved very much. Barb enjoyed writing. Her sarcastic and humorous attitude, kept her friends and family on their toes. Barb was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Entrusted Women ladies group and was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross for which she served on many disaster relief teams over the years. Barb died March 18, 2017, at her home in Newton. She was 67 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to honor Barb’s memory include a cousin, Mary Krunzich; several other cousins; her nieces and nephews; and many friends.
