Pet license late fees begin April 1

Don’t forget to purchase your 2017 pet tags before April 1 to avoid a $20 late fee.

Per city ordinance, all dogs, cats and miniature pigs within the city limits must be licensed. Licenses good for one calendar year. Fees are as follows: spayed/neutered: $15, non-spayed/neutered: $25, after March 31 spayed/neutered: $35; after March 31 non-spayed/neutered: $45.

Licenses may be purchased at the Newton Police Department, 101 W. Fourth St. S., during normal business hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Receipt from veterinarian showing rabies expiration date is required. Only cash or check accepted at this time.
