Honey Bee Talk set for Saturday in Newton

Project AWAKE is hosting a talk on Honey Bees at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Newton Arboretum.

The 2017 Iowa Honey Queen, Carly Raye, will be sharing about honeybees, honey, beekeeping, and beyond. Come find out why bees are important, and how we can help them survive. Along the way we will learn the strange use of bee hives in medieval times, the color of mystery honey and how bees make mummies.

This event is free and open to the public. The Newton Arboretum is located at 3000 N. Fourth Ave. E. in Newton.
