Battle of the Books continues at the Newton Public Library

Battle of the Books

March 1-31 — We’re playing Battle of the Books. This is a bracket-style tournament like the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, but with a literary twist: our competition pits famous authors against each other and the winner is decided by you. Thirty-two authors will enter, but only one can be crowned Newton’s favorite. Visit the library to fill out a bracket with your predictions, then vote for your favorite authors each day. Submit your votes on Facebook, Instagram or inside the library. The brackets with the most accurate predictions will be entered in a prize drawing for a Kindle Fire.

Here’s how to play:

• Step 1: Follow us on Instagram and Facebook. We’ll be posting in all places.

• Step 2: Check in every day after 10 a.m. to see who’s competing that day. The first match is March 13.

• Step 3: Cast your vote by commenting on the post with the name of the author you support.

• Step 4: We’ll tally up the comments one day after the match is posted, and the winners will proceed to the next round. There will be 30 matches total, and the winner will be announced on April 1.
