Tammy Wickett, 50, of Monroe, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at her home. A funeral service was Saturday, March 25 at the First Baptist Church in Monroe, with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe directed to Tammy Wickett Benefit Fund and condolences may be left for the family at coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Lavern and Connie (Bisom) Schakel, Tammy was born Oct. 19, 1966, in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1985. On Sept. 6, 2008, Tammy was united in marriage to Robert S. Wickett at the Ivy Church. She worked as a child care provider and also coached the PCM Cheer Team for 10 years. Kids were her life, not only her three children, but also everyone that she watched over the years.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Robert; three children, Melinda Williams of Denver, Colo., Jennifer (Paul) Williams of Newton and Johnathon Williams of Monroe; her mother, Judith Schakel of Newton; three brothers, Merlyn Schakel of Grinnell, Chad (Tammy) Schakel of Newton and Chris (Christy) Schakel of Newton; two half-sisters, Stephanie Frick of Altoona and Julie (Doug) Bryce of Decorah; several nieces, nephews and grand-dogs. Preceding Tammy in death were her grandparents; and her mother and father.
