Keith L. Stephen, 56, of Newton, was charged with trespassing at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday after police were called to Hy-Vee in reference to someone who had been previously trespassed from Hy-Vee. Police released Stephen and issued him a citation to appear in court.

• Andrew B. Wallace, 37, of Newton, was cited with failure to maintain control, striking fixtures and no insurance at 6 a.m. March 1. One vehicle was northbound at the corner of First Avenue and West Seventh Street South when the driver lost control and ran over a stop sign and then drove back to an apartment parking lot and left the vehicle, later reporting the accident. The vehicle had $1,500 in damage to the front passenger side and broke both street signs causing $400 in damage.
