Amerigas Propane, 411 S. High S. in Baxter, recently presented Aurora Heights Elementary School in Newton, with a check for $570.96 and Baxter Community Schools with a check for $355.24 as part of the AmeriGas School Days program.

The school plans to use the monies for various student activities and fieldtrips.

The School Days program allows participants to help their school district raise up to $2,000 each year. In the last year, the company has donated $117,235.11 as part of the program.

“For more than 17 years, we’ve been operating the AmeriGas School Days program,” said district manager Todd Schmidt. “We’re working to get the word out to area schools: take advantage of this program and earn some free cash for your school.”

“We’re so excited to be a part of adding to the experience the Aurora Heights and the Baxter students will have,” Schmidt said.

The program is an easy way for customers to help their local district raise money. Here’s how it works:

• Use AmeriGas as your propane supplier.

• Bring the second page of each propane receipt to the office of your local, participating school

• The school district will collect the receipts for a year.

• At the end of the year, the district will turn the bundled receipts into their local AmeriGas office.

• For every gallon of propane purchased, AmeriGas will donate $0.02 to the district.
According to Schmidt, the program is a win-win for all involved.

“AmeriGas awards schools across the country with checks for as much as $2,000,” he said, “this money that can be put toward anything the schools need. It’s a great partnership.”

Call your local AmeriGas office for details on participating schools in the area or with additional questions you may have.
