• Anthony R. Strange, 21, of Newton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 8:30 p.m. Sunday after police were called to the 1100 block of South 12th Avenue West in reference to a suspicious individual. Strange was walking southbound in the 1300 block of West 12th Street South. The officer told Strange he was going to be patted down for weapons. Strange then grabbed the object out of his pocket and attempted to conceal it. The object was a pipe. Strange was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Latasha R. Harris-Pearson, 22, and Deja R. Harris, 19, both of Newton, were charged with first-degree burglary at 10:11 p.m. March 4 after police were called to 315 West Fourth Street South in reference to a burglary. The victim told police Pearson and Harris kicked in her door and assaulted her, grabbed her by the hair and threw her down on the ground. Police saw the inside door trim had been knocked off the wall and a clump of hair that had been pulled out of the victim’s head. Police also spoke to a witness who confirmed Pearson and Harris entered the apartment and assaulted the victim.

• Gina N. Stewart, 43, of Newton, was cited with driving while license under suspension and operating a non-registered vehicle at 7:49 p.m. Saturday.
