Newton Police Department
• Jan Virginia Nusbaum, 45, of Newton, was arrested at 12:03 a.m. March 3 at 1501 First Ave. E. on a Poweshiek County warrant for two counts of possession of prescription drugs. Nusbaum was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Casey Joel Brandt, 34, of Newton, was arrested at 8:03 p.m. March 2 at 400 First Ave. E. on a Jasper County warrant for probation violation. Brandt was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Shawn M. King, 31, of Des Moines, was charged with driving while license denied or revoked, cited with operation without registration card or plate and cited with failure to provide proof of insurance at 7:57 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of East 12th Street North after police made a traffic stop on a Fiat 500 with an expired plate. The male driver's information showed to be revoked for a drug related conviction with the date of Feb. 9. King was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
