Diana (Woody) Purvis, 55, of Newton died on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at her home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 6, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Memorials in Diana’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Diana, the daughter of Delmar and Patricia (McNeer) Woody, was born on December 18, 1961 in Newton. She grew up in Reasnor and Newton, where she attended Monroe Schools and later graduated from Newton High School in the class of 1980. Diana then attended both AIB and DMACC. She worked at the Maytag Company and at area nursing home before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and crafting. Diana also liked to go camping and fishing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Those left to honor Diana’s memory are her husband, David Purvis of Newton; sons, Matthew Savage of Newton and Tyrel Purvis of Newton; daughter, Patti (Justin) Doran of Newton; six grandchildren, Kylie Doran, Kortney Doran, Ellexa Savage, Olivia Savage, Abbie Savage, and Layla Purvis; her siblings, Patrick Woody of Reasnor, Dennis Woody of Ankeny, Linda (James) Christenson of Newton, Kelly Woody of Newton, and Amy (Joe) Free of Newton; and her many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tyler Purvis in 2011; sister, Sue Jackson; brother, Mike Woody; and her paternal grandmother, Mattie Acord.
