Man imprisoned for assaulting staffer at mental health facility

MASON CITY — A man has been imprisoned for sexually assaulting a staff member at a Mason City facility that helps people with mental illnesses.

Joseph Wallace was given 10 years in prison at his sentencing Monday. The sentence is to be served at the same time he serves two years for assault on a jailer. He pleaded guilty earlier this month to the assault charge and guilty in December to the sexual abuse charge after it was determined that he was competent to stand trial.
