Newton Police Department

• Abby M. Brown, 32, of Newton, was cited with driving while license under suspension at 10 p.m. Feb. 21.

• Casey J. Brandt, 34, of Newton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 1 a.m. Wednesday after police were called to a residence at 700 block of West Seventh Street South in reference to a burglary. Police arrived and made contact with the suspect identified as Brandt. The reporting party told police Brandt was staying at the residence without permission. Police found a clear glass pipe with residue lying on the bed inside the residence. Brandt told police he had used the pipe a day prior to smoke methamphetamine. Police also found a plastic bottle bong in the living room of the home. Brandt was released and issued a citation to appear in court.

• William David Harwood, 24, of Newton, was arrested at 8:33 a.m. Tuesday at his residence at 1101 E. 10th St. S. #1, on a Dallas County warrant for probation violation, original charge operating while under the influence and a Polk County warrant for sex offender registration violation. Harwood was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Christy Jo Clark, 30, of Newton, was arrested at 2:46 p.m. Monday at the adult probation office on a Jasper County warrant for probation violation, original charges two counts of child endangerment. Clark was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Anthony R. Poch, 40, of Colfax, was charged with operating while under the influence at 3:42 a.m. Feb. 18 after law enforcement was called to a parked vehicle at a gas station at 1200 N. Walnut St. in Colfax. The vehicle was parked away from the pumps. Poch had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. Poch failed a standard field sobriety test and he told police he could feel the effects of alcohol. Poch was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• David G. Collins, 71, of Spencer, was charged with eluding at 9:20 p.m. Feb. 19 after law enforcement was called in reference to a reckless driver. Collins was driving 50 mph in a 70 mph zone at mile marker 168 on Interstate 80 West. Collins was seen by law enforcement driving in a reckless manner, swerving into multiple lanes of traffic and almost causing an accident. An unmarked patrol vehicle attempted to stop the vehicle using visual and audible warning devices. Collins failed to bring the vehicle to a stop. A marked patrol vehicle drove in behind Collins with visual and audible warning devices activated. Collins continued to drive at low speeds during that time. The driver swerved from shoulder to shoulder almost hitting multiple bridges and cable barriers. A patrol vehicle with lights activated moved in front of Collins’ vehicle in attempt to make the vehicle stop. Collins made contact with the patrol car’s rear bumper and proceeded to pull to the side of the roadway and stop. Collins was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail. Collins was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and no medical conditions were identified.

• Wade L. Sidie, 18, of Monroe, was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 6:44 p.m. Saturday after law enforcement witnessed a white sedan traveling northbound on Highway 14 South at 63 mph. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and the driver was moving in a way to suggest as an attempt to hide something. While Sidie was talking, the deputy smelled marijuana. The registration card had expired in April 2016. The deputy gave Sidie a warning for the expired registration and he confronted Sidie about the smell of marijuana. Sidie said he had smoked earlier. Sidie gave consent to search the vehicle. Inside the center console was a clear playing cards box with green leafy substance inside and a small clear bag also contained green leafy substance. Sidie was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
