Skiff named among top 100 rural hospitals

Skiff Medical Center has been named to the 2017 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the U.S., according to The National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Policy Institute, iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

Hospitals named to this list are top performers in managing risk, achieving higher quality, securing better outcomes, increasing patient satisfaction and operating at a lower cost than their peers, according to the report.

The top 100 hospitals named on each list outperform peers across each pillar of the Hospital Strength INDEX, including quality and outcomes, patient and safety satisfaction and costs and charges measures. For instance, the median rural hospital earned an overall score of 50, which is considerably lower than the median Top 100 hospital score of 95.

Skiff was one of three Iowa hospitals named to the list, joined by Spencer Municipal Hospital and Fort Dodge’s Trinity Regional Medical Center.
