First off let me say that our parks in Newton are awesome — the improvements done recently and the planned improvements are great.
The one improvement I feel lacking is the amount of sidewalks at Agnes Patterson, mainly being between the multiple ballfields. To me it seems to be a no brainer to want to make it more accessible for players, parents and grandparents. A simple sidewalk from the main trail north to south and east to west would be sufficient. I have watched an elderly man fall near the baseball fields because of the rough ground and the gravel drive from the parking lot isn’t much better with the size of some of the rock used.
I have seen numerous complexes through All-Star Little League games and USSSA tournaments and the vast majority of them have nice sidewalks. I ask that this be something that is looked into as a future improvement to Agnes Patterson, a bathroom facility on top of the hill would be another great addition. Play ball!
