Edith L. Phifer, 96, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13 at the Monroe United Methodist Church with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12 at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire or Ambulance Department or Mercy Hospice. The daughter of Ralph and Evaleen (Van Bentum) Warner, Edith was born June 20, 1920, in Fairmont. On May 11, 1938, she was united in marriage to Earl J. Phifer in Unionville, Mo. Edith was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. She enjoyed square dancing and camping. She and Earl worked at several area campgrounds.

Those left to honor her memory include her four sons and their spouses, Duane and Kittie, Daryl and Linda, Carroll and Gloria and Ralph and Susie; 14 grandchildren, Jeff and Eileen, Ryan and Jan, Ward and Leanne, Chad and Tina, Pam Keyser, Donna and Jeff Guilden, Kristofer (Emelyn), Melisa and Sean Paul, Terrie and Kyle Brown, Tim and Debra, Theodore and Christine, Stephane, Wendy, Jeremy St. Peter and Andy St. Peter; 24 great-grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob, Claire, Rachel, Braden, Meghan, Joshua, Taylor, Nathan, Kara, Adam, Peyton, Matt, Alyssa, Ben, Zach, Mia, Erin, Emma, Zoe, Connie, Daniel, Allison and Gavin; great-great-grandson, Dillon; and sister-in-law, Norma Warner. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother; two brothers, Robert and Dwight; and her husband, Earl J. Phifer in 1995.
