Kay Irene Harlow passed away at the age of 75 on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017. Services will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends and family from 11 a.m. to noon.

Kay was born on the 29th day of June, 1941, in Newton. Mother, Virginia McDaniels; father, Lauren McGee; stepfather Max (Shorty) McDaniels. Kay graduated from Newton High School in 1959. Kay worked for the Maytag Corporation for more than 18 years, working in various labor intense positions as a full-time employee to support her family and retired as an inspector. Kay was a long-time member of the Moose Lodge in Newton. Kay was proud of being an independent mother who raised five boys on her own.

Kay enjoyed her time with family and friends. She looked forward to seeing everyone, both near and far. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, bird watching, gardening, relaxing in her pool, playing cards at the Moose Lodge and spending time with her pets. She also looked forward to camping at Iowa State Fair each year, when she was able.

Kay is survived by five sons, Kelly Stogdill of Newton, Lonnie (Marci) Stogdill of Newton, Tim (Mary) Stogdill of East Peoria, Ill., Andrew (Susie) Harlow of Newton and Troy Harlow of Eustace, Texas; siblings, sister, Anne (Leroy) Cloyd of Ottumwa; brother, Carl (Beth) McGee of Kellogg, sister, Carol (Bob) Boyer of Lakeland, Fla.; many grand-children, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and other friends and family.

Kay was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia McDaniels; father, Lauren McGee; stepfather, Max (Shorty) McDaniels; brother, Ted Sutton; sister, Phyllis Seals; brother, Michael McDaniels; and sister, Katherine Kay McGee.
