William J. Bergman

William “Bill” J. Bergman, 92, of Newton, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at the Newton Health Care Center in Newton. The family will greet friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials to the American Legion Post 111 may be left at the funeral home. Those left to honor Bill’s memory are his children, Jack (April) Bergman of Baraboo, Wis., Jim (Shannon) Bergman of Newton, Toni (Doug) Gumbel of Polk City and Tami Murphy of Baxter; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Thad, Joe, Jeff, Alex, Emily, Parker, Sydney and Adrienne; and his three great-grandchildren, Madalynn, William and Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria in 2008; grandson, Andrew Murphy; brother, Jack; and sisters, Madge, Marilyn and Marge.
