CMB grapplers get tune up at Charger Invitational

GUTHRIE CENTER —The Collins-Maxwell/Baxter wrestling team competed in the Charger Invitational on Saturday as a tune-up for this weekend’s Class 2A sectional tournament.

The Raiders brought six wrestlers to the tournament, five of which competed in the JV bracket.

Senior Archer McFadden (24-8) placed seventh in the varsity tournament at 285 pounds. He went 3-2 on the day, winning two matches by fall and another by a 6-2 decision. His second loss of the day came by fall with 19 seconds to go in the match.

The five wrestlers who competed in the JV tournament were freshman Carter Davis, junior Tate Ewing, sophomore Austin Good, sophomore Andrew Esqueda and junior Cody Galbraith.

Esqueda won his bracket with a 3-0 record. Ewing and Good were both 2-1 and finished second in their brackets, while Davis and Galbraith each finished 0-3 and finished fourth.

The Raiders wrestle in the 2A sectional at noon Saturday in Huxley. The tournament is hosted by Ballard.
