Darrell L. Peery

Darrell Lee Peery, 57, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at his home. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at the Monroe United Methodist Church. The son of Donald and Pearl (Stephens) Peery, Darrell was born Dec. 12, 1959, in Des Moines. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1978. On Dec. 28, 1991, he was united in marriage to Patti Turner in Huxley. Darrell worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. He also served as a trustee for Fairview Township. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and bowling, but most of all spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Patti; children, Kenny Thorson, Melissa (Jon) Morrill and Matthew Peery; his parents, Donald and Pearl; a grandchild due in May; and several close cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
