Grand View Christian overwhelms Tigerhawks

ANKENY — Colfax-Mingo’s basketball teams couldn’t keep up with Grand View Christian during non-conference action at Faith Baptist Bible College on Thursday night.

In the girls game, Grand View Christian led by 22 at halftime and went on to win 71-46, while the Thunder boys overwhelmed the Tigerhawk boys, 89-29.

Sophomore Mackensie Brown scored a team-high 12 points and had two steals, while senior Amy Russell scored eight of her 10 points in the second half and grabbed four rebounds.

Senior Dakota Hostetter collected eight points and eight rebounds, junior McKeely Tjaden scored six points and junior Ries Wilson scored three points and finished with five boards.

The Tigerhawks (3-11) made 19-of-49 from the floor, connected on 1-of-8 from long range and hit 7-of-13 from the free-throw line.

In the boys game, Grand View Christian (12-1) led 28-6 after one quarter, 53-19 at halftime and 69-25 after three quarters.

Freshman Brady Berkey had seven points to lead Colfax-Mingo (6-7), while junior Jarod Nichols was held to six points in the loss.

Colfax-Mingo returns plays HLV in a South Iowa Cedar League varsity doubleheader at 6 p.m. Friday in Victor.
