MayBell Bookout Stir, 84, of Newton, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Park Ridge Specialty Care in Pleasant Hill. No services are scheduled. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation.
MayBell, the daughter of Archie and Ida (Wilbur) Musgrove, was born March 26, 1932, in Bussey. She lived most of her life in Newton. MayBell worked as a tailor and enjoyed bowling and throwing darts.
MayBell is survived by her children, Steven (Ruth) Bookout of Newton, Jacque Cupples of Fayette, Debra Leahy of Des Moines, Gene Bookout of Des Moines and John (Debbie) Bookout of Altoona; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Musgrove; and sister, WilmaDell Mortenson.
