Newton Police Department

• Dominic T. Vasquez, 35, of Newton, is charged with controlled substance violation, possession of controlled substance, possession of drug parapheranlia and driving while license under suspension at 9:44 a.m. Jan. 2. Vasquez was pulled over in the 200 block of First Avenue East. Vasquez was arrested for driving while license revoked. During arrest, police found multiple glass pipes, a plastic bag of white crystal that weighed 5.1 grams, a plastic bag of tan powder that weighed 1.3 grams and in his backpack was a plastic bag of marijuana that weighed 3.3 grams, a digital scale and several empty plastic bags. Vasquez was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brian A. Callison, 41, of Newton, is charged with trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia at 12:57 a.m. Jan. 2 when police were called to 405 First Ave. E. of an individual who had trespassed on the Yes Way property. Callison had been notified the day before he was to no longer allowed on the property. Callison was arrested. Police found two multi-colored pipes commonly used to smoke marijuana with residue. Callison was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Roger L. Sullivan, 59, of Newton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, interference with official acts and possession of controlled substance at 6:05 p.m. Dec. 24 after a deputy saw Sullivan parked under a bridge on Highway F48 West. There was no one in the vehicle but there were tents set up under the bridge. Sullivan opened his tent and he said he was just sleeping and homeless. Sullivan said he didn’t have anything illegal in the tent. When the deputy asked Sullivan about a black case in the tent, he threw two bags of “meth” out of the tent. During arrest, Sullivan struggled with the deputy. After arrest, the deputy found a used methamphetamine pipe and a used marijuana pipe. Sullivan was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Dawn L. Chambers, 40, of Oskaloosa, was charged with driving while barred at 2:42 p.m. Dec. 30 after police stopped Chambers for speeding on Highway 163 West. Chambers showed the officer a temporarily restricted license showing she needed the ignition interlock system, which was not installed on her vehicle. Chamber was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
