Glen L. Jones, 77, of Newton, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2017, at his home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service and again after the service with a lunch at the funeral home. Memorials to Mercy Hospice or in Glen’s name may be left at the funeral home.

Glen, the son of Ralph and Pearl (Ritz) Jones, was born May 9, 1939, in Davis County. He graduated from Moulton High School. Glen later moved to Newton, to begin his 30 year career at the Maytag Company, retiring in 1999.

Glen was united in marriage with Twila J. Blumer April 6, 1985, in Blakesburg. They made their home in Newton. Glen was a member of the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League and the Community Heights Alliance Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting and woodworking. Glen also liked to paint and took classes with his daughter, Theresa.

For more than 20 years, Glen also worked on Ford tractors. He liked to say that he was the “Biggest Ford Tractor Dealer in Jasper County.”

Glen is survived by his wife, Twila Jones of Newton; daughter, Theresa Lemons (Russ Vander Weerdt) of Lynnville; son, Timothy (Dee) Jones of Newton; his step-children, Jeffrey (Barb) Brittain of Blakesburg, Julie (Jim) Preston of Carlisle and Jolynda Huff (Greg Turner) of Oskaloosa; brother, Edward (Karin) Jones of Weslaco, Texas; sister, Fern (Gerald) Mitchell of Blakesburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and several nieces and nephews.
