Raider wrestlers lose to South Hamilton, North Polk

JEWELL — Senior Archer McFadden and sophomores Caleb Fullerton and Austin Good all finished 2-0 on the night, but too many forfeits doomed the Collins-Maxwell/Baxter wrestling team during a Heart of Iowa Conference triangular at South Hamilton High School.

The Raiders fell to the host Hawks 30-24 in the opener and then dropped a 54-21 dual against North Polk.

Good won both of his matches by fall at 152, while McFadden (8-4) and Fullerton (7-3) each had one pin and one forfeit at 285 and 138, respectively.

Senior Evan Bianchi (7-2) won the team’s other match on the night, defeating North Polk’s Josiah Delavois, 4-1 at 160.

Bianchi lost his other match to South Hamilton’s Luke Peters, 2-0. Peters won the 160-pound HOIC title last year and pinned Bianchi in that tourney.

The Raiders (0-9 overall, 0-4 in the HOIC) gave up six forfeits to North Polk, and forfeited three bouts to South Hamilton.

CMB was given three forfeits total on the night.

The Raiders wrestle in the North Polk Invitational at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Alleman.
