James R. Vest Jr., 27, of Newton, is charged with driving while license revoked, after police ran a license plate at 5:26 a.m. Tuesday. Vest was driving at 400 First Ave. E. when police pulled him over. Vest was issued a citation.

• Gregory Bologna, 32, of Newton, is charged with public intoxication after police were called at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an intoxicated individual walking in the 800 block of East 12th Street North. Bologna was seen by police stumbling, and he told police he was very intoxicated. Bologna was also identified as being wanted for a Jasper County warrant. Bologna was arrested on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear for a show cause hearing and sentencing on a domestic assault charge.

• Lucas M. Hoxie, 31, of Prairie City, is charged with simulated public intoxication after he walked into the Jasper County Jail to turn himself in at 1:43 p.m. Dec. 7. Hoxie walked into the jail to serve a seven day mittimus. He smelled of alcohol and said he had been drinking before turning himself in. A breath test showed a blood alcohol content of .207. Hoxie was arrested.

• Jeffrey L. Sears, 52, of Grinnell, is charged with operating while under the influence after he was seen by law enforcement driving without a license plate at 9:24 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Front Street and Bolton Street. Sears smelled of alcohol and told police he had just left a bar in Kellogg. Sears told police he had two beers there. Sears’ breath test gave a result of .08. He was arrested.
