WEST DES MOINES — A nearly 80-year-old concert and event venue is for sale in West Des Moines. The owner of the Val Air Ballroom is asking $2.6 million for the property. The concern hall will continue hosting events while on the market, but venue’s future is unclear. The nonprofit Neighborhood Development Corp. said the building needs roughly $1.1 million in repairs to raise it to modern standards. But the group’s report also says the building would likely qualify for designation as a cultural landmark.
