• Austin B. Shepherd, 19, of Newton, is charged with disorderly conduct and fifth-degree theft after police were called at 10:13 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a shop lifter at Farver True Value. Shepherd was seen walking out of the store with gloves. Store employees reportedly went after him and when they attempted to detain Shepherd, he fought with them, requiring multiple employees to hold him down. Shepherd said he was homeless and needed the items to keep warm. Shepherd was arrested.

• Kristi J. Wooldridge, 47, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft and Morgan R. Woody, 24, of Newton, is charged with interference with official acts, after police were called at 4:25 p.m. Monday to 208 E. Fourth St. S. in reference to a shoplifter. Wooldridge was seen by a Fareway employee putting candy and a meat item into her purse. Employees, including, Woody chased Wooldridge to her apartment where she kicked and fought with employees. Wooldridge and Woody were issued citations.
