MONROE — Senior Xavier Miller and sophomore Wes Cummings both competed at a heavier weight Tuesday night, but it hardly mattered.
Miller (152), Cummings (160) and sophomore Jarron Trausch (170) all went 3-0 on the night, helping the Mustangs finish 2-1 in a quadrangular at PCM High School.
Class 2A sixth ranked Cummings (152) and sixth-ranked Trausch (170) stayed unbeaten on the season, Chace Palm, Leevi Telfer and Chase Shirk all went 2-1 and the Mustangs defeated Bondurant-Farrar (44-24) and Pleasantville (48-27) and lost by a point to Sigourney-Keota (40-39).
With 2A No. 2 Roland being out of the lineup because of a knee injury, Cummings and Miller had to wrestle up a weight class.
Cummings started and ended his night with pins but the middle match was a 10-5 win over 1A No. 8 Griffen McBride of Pleasantville.
Miller won all three of his matches by fall, while Trausch had a win by fall, technical fall and forfeit.
Bondurant-Farrar led 18-6 in the early stages of the opening match of the night. Eight straight wins though helped the Mustangs rally. PCM was handed two forfeits, too.
The Mustangs flipped the script against Pleasantville. The Trojans led 9-0 before five straight wins gave PCM the lead for good. Short-handed Pleasantville handed the Mustangs five forfeits.
Sigourney-Keota rallied from an early 12-0 deficit in the final dual. Trailing 33-10, Sigourney-Keota won five straight matches to take a seven-point lead with one match to go.
Clay Van Wyk of PCM won two matches on the night, both by way of forfeit.
PCM wrestles at 6 p.m. Thursday at North Polk.
