‘Celebrate Christmas’ concert is Sunday

Newton First Christian Church, 314 E. Second St. N., will host a “Celebrate Christmas” concert with Christian recording artists Phil and Pam Morgan.

The two-hour Branson style variety show will feature favorite songs of the season along with family friendly fun from Christian comedian Lizzie Lou.

The Morgans, based out of Kansas City, are no strangers to Newton, having presented their music at several churches in the area.

“We always love singing in Iowa,” Pam Morgan said. “The people here are so welcoming and really make us feel at home.”

The annual Christmas tour has become a much anticipated part of the Morgans yearly schedule. Once again they will be joined by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Tresa Mote from Linn Valley, Kan. A new addition this year is Beth Irvin from Peculiar, Mo., whose portrayal of Missouri Hillbilly Lizzie Lou promises to be a highlight of the evening.

The matinée performance starts at 4 p.m. Sunday. Also performing will be Newton’s own Unbroken Praise quartet. Admission is free with a love offering received for the Morgans 2017 ministry outreach. Everyone is welcome to attend.
