JoAnn, the daughter of Robert H. and Arlene (McConeghey) Paulson, was born April 2, 1956, in Newton. She grew up on the family farm by Kellogg, and graduated from Newton High School in 1974. JoAnn was a candy striper at Skiff Medical Center and was recognized for having the most volunteer hours of anyone at the time. She then went on to work as a nurse’s aide at both Skiff and the Jasper County Care Facility. In the mid 1990s JoAnn and her family moved into Newton. JoAnn was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church. She enjoyed trips to Branson, Missouri and attending Daniel O’Donnell concerts. JoAnn had most recently been selling Avon.

Those left to honor JoAnn’s memory are her sister, Marilyn Paulson of Newton; aunt, Mary Paulson Deal of Prairie City; and her many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and her four legged “children” Teenie and Sara, who passed away recently.
