Atmosphere Vapors brings E-cig shop downtown

An E-cig can be a healthy alternative for tobacco users — that’s why Atmosphere Vapors opened its doors on the square last week.

Located at 118 First Ave. E., Atmosphere Vapors offers more than 50 premium e-juice flavors, which have been sold at the store’s second established location in Grinnell since the end of August.

When store owner Travis Puls saw the space was available this month, he said he jumped at the opportunity to bring his shop to Newton in order to better serve his customers.

Puls said the Newton store sells almost all of the same flavors, including the most popular choices, Salty Pear and Krype.

“We started moving in here at the beginning of this month,” he said. “Things have gone really well. We had quite a few customers who came from Jasper County to the Grinnell location.”

Puls said he offers a variety of products and equipment for customers who are just starting out to customers who are veteran vape users.

Atmosphere Vapors’ prices are consistent and stay competitive with Des Moines vapor shops, Puls said.

The shop also offers a rewards program that is worthwhile for regular customers. The program includes text message rewards and weekly deals.

“My approach is I want people to feel comfortable coming in and talking with us,” Puls said. “That’s why we have barstools, people can come in and hang out and try out different flavors.”

The store’s grand opening was Friday.

Atmosphere Vapors’ hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Customers must be 18 or older to use the products sold at Atmosphere Vapors.
