Newton Police Department

• Michael T. Todd, 25, of Newton, is charged with driving while barred after police pulled him over at 1:40 a.m. Nov. 8 in the 100 block of East Fifth Street South. An officer observed Todd’s blue 1998 Dodge Ram with a center brake light out in the 700 block of First Avenue East. Todd’s license was barred Sept. 16 through Sept. 19, 2019.

• Billy Allison, 40, of Whiteville, Tenn., is charged with first-offense operating while under the influence and interference with official acts after police were called at 12:58 a.m. Oct. 31 to a parking spot at 4401 S. 22nd Ave. E. in response to an intoxicated man driving a tractor-trailer. Allison reportedly went to the rear of the cab when an officer arrived. The witness told police that Allison said he had been drinking at the bar and had approximately 13 beers prior to driving the tractor-trailer. Allison allegedly refused to exit the vehicle and resisted when officers attempted to remove him from the vehicle. The officers used a taser multiple times to gain compliance from Allison.

• Sara J. Schippers, 42, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after police were called at 4:31 p.m. Nov. 2 to Loves Travel Stop in reference to a theft. Schippers admitted to serving a McDonald’s employee mac and cheese and not taking payment for the item.

• Zachary D. Gressley, 21, of Newton, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police arrested Gressley for driving with a suspended license at 1:26 a.m. Saturday on North Fourth Avenue West. After Gressley was arrested for driving with a suspended license, police looked in the vehicle for keys and found a grinder with green leafy residue, consistent with marijuana, inside the center console. Gressley denied knowledge of the grinder being in the center console.

• Sequoya L. Key, 30, of Newton, is charged with eluding and possession of a controlled substance after being pulled over by police at 10:39 p.m. Nov. 12 at 1800 W. Fourth St. N. Key is accused of traveling 40 mph in a 25 zone. Key allegedly continued traveling at the speed limit and stopping at stop signs when the officer activated his emergency lights. When Key came to a stop, marijuana was found 2.9 grams in the vehicle. Key told police the marijuana was hers and wanted to know if she could get it back.
