City of Kellogg to add new community LED sign

A new full-color LED community message center has been ordered for Kellogg. The two-sided message center, approximately 3x8 feet in size, and topped with an 18-inch “Welcome to Kellogg” header will stand beside Highway 224 at the south entrance to Kellogg. It replaces a changeable letter sign that has served the community for a number of years.

After a successful 16 month fundraising campaign, led by the Kellogg Lions Club, and with the approval of the Iowa Department of Transportation, the new message center has been ordered from Nagle Signs, Inc. Delivery should occur in mid-late December, with the sign being operational at that time. A formal dedication and thank you event will be planned for a beautiful spring-time day.

The new message center is made possible through the generosity of many, many individual donors, groups, civic organizations, churches and businesses. Several memorial donations were received and will be appropriately honored at the dedication event. The new sign is also made possible through the generous support of the Jasper Community Foundation and the City of Kellogg.

The operation of the sign will be coordinated by the Kellogg Lions Club and the City of Kellogg. A long-term operating agreement is being developed to guide the sign’s use, continuing the cooperative tradition that has guided the use of the present sign. Members of the community sign committee are Brenda Aldrich, Kathy Klemm, Al Ricks and Conrad and MaryAnn VanMaaren.
