• Kayla M. Heatherington, 25, of Marshalltown, is charged with theft in the fifth-degree after she filled up her white Ford Escort with fuel at 2:30 p.m. Monday without paying. Heatherington told the store clerk she forgot her wallet and would come back to pay for the gas. Heatherington gave a phone number that was a tow company in Marshalltown. She gave the clerk a copy of her drivers license.

• Timothy D. Brown, 28, of Grinnell, is charged with fifth-degree theft after police were called at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday to Walmart after Brown purchased a tool set and allegedly switched the price tag. The tool set was $98.97, and the tag stated it was $9.97. When employees confronted Brown he ran. Brown was found at the Dollar Tree bathroom across the street and arrested.
