Laube is most qualified for supervisor

Decisions, decisions! Never has the word meant so much in the world of politics as it has this year. The fact is, because of the Trickle Down Effect, it’s just as important on the local level as it is on the national front. As such, I feel motivated to reach out on behalf of one of our own based on his experience to urge you to support Keith Laube for the Jasper County Board of Supervisors in November.

Although I’ve never met Mr. Laube, I believe the NDN’s Question & Answer columns did an unending amount of good in presenting the candidates up close and personal and, in my opinion, displayed his abilities to be head and shoulders above his competitors. While Candidates X and Y are undoubtedly “nice,” “of good moral fiber” and “would do anything for anybody,” doesn’t it seem most important that Mr. Laube has headed the Public Works Department and garnered the knowledge to share specifics about the job and indeed supervised employees therein to bring the most informed, detailed plans for the county’s future? It does to me.

His answers in that column showed a mature, informed and well-spoken individual who would be ideal to provide the leadership we need when it comes to planning and paying for county improvements. Even more, by having the required experience, he would not be “learning as he goes” while he does the job. While friendship and admiration are certainly fine concepts, I expect our politicians to put their money where their mouths are, and that’s called experience. So, when you go to the polls to choose the newest member of our county board of supervisors, please vote for the most qualified candidate who, in this case, is Keith Laube. (And, if you’re still torn between your heart and your head when making that decision, do as “Dear Abby” often advises: listen to the part that thinks.)
