Jasper County schools, community to host upcoming blood drives

DES MOINES — As the provider of blood to more than 120 hospitals in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, LifeServe Blood Center relies on local donors to ensure blood is on the shelf when hospital patients need it.

Ninety percent of the population will need blood at some point during their lives, but less than 10 percent give blood.

Several blood drives are scheduled at Jasper County schools and communities:

• Colfax-Mingo High School Blood Drive from noon to 3:30 p.m. Monday at Colfax-Mingo High School, 204 N. League Road.

• Lynnville Sully High School Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 2 at Lynnville Sully High School, 12476 Hwy F62 E.

• PCM High School Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2 at PCM High School, 400 E. Hwy 163.

• Prairie City & Monroe Community Blood Drive from 7:15 to 10:45 a.m. Nov. 12 at Methodist Church, 706 W. McMurray.

• Newton Community Blood Drive from 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at Newton DMACC Conference Center, 600 N. Second Ave. W.
