Breckenridge a refreshing choice for statehouse

I’m in enthusiastic support of Wes Breckenridge to serve as our “voice in state government” with his election to State Representative, HD 29. I had the honor of representing Jasper County for many years in both the House and Senate, and thus understand extremely well the work involved, commitment to responding to constituent communication and respecting the views and concerns of all in the district, regardless of their political persuasion. For these reasons, I have no question as to Wes Breckenridge’s desire and ability to perform these duties in a responsible manner.

I’ve closely watched this election for the seat that was once held by former Lt. Governor Bob Anderson of Newton, myself, the late Paul Bell and Dan Kelley. I am so sincerely proud of the manner in which Mr. Breckenridge pursued the nomination in the primary election, and even more so his exemplary hard work and demeanor in pursuit of the seat in the upcoming General Election.

Never once have I heard him speak ill of others, and thus he epitomizes the admonition of we “old timers” that you “can’t build yourself up by tearing others down.” The high-road has been his standard, and will carry forth with that determination in the Iowa House. This is a proven leadership quality that is a part of his being. Wes knows the issues; will treat everyone with respect; will communicate with constituents; and, I have complete confidence he will work with ALL his colleagues in the Iowa House to address the crucial problems facing Iowans.

Do yourself a favor. Vote for Wes Breckenridge for Iowa House District 29.

Sen. Dennis Black, Ret.
