Angela T. (Schmidt) Hindman, 90, of Newton, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at Accura Healthcare of Newton East in Newton. Angela’s memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton, conducted by Fr. William Reynolds of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at the funeral home. They will also greet friends following the service with a coffee time at the funeral home. Burial will be beside her husband, Clair at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Memorialsto the Newton Alumni Association may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Angela T. (Schmidt) Hindman, the daughter of Carl Casper and Anna Marie (Manning) Schmidt, was born June 18, 1926, in Newton. She was a graduate of Newton High School in 1944. On May 2, 1946, Angela was united in marriage with Clair Nelson Hindman in Newton. They were blessed with five children, Shellie, Nick, Scott, Shannon and Natalie. Angela was a homemaker; she had also worked as an office assistant for Doug Carpenter and Dennis Den Hartog. She was a very active member of the Democratic Party. Angela was also an active member of her NHS Class of 1944. She enjoyed classic movies, reading and listening to NPR (National Public Radio). Angela was a devoted and loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Those left to cherish Angela’s memory are her children, Shellie (Ed) Nall of Clinton, Utah, Nick Hindman (Donna Steiniche) of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Scott Hindman (Maggie Solasberry) of Newton, Shannon (Jim) Bergman of Newton and Natalie Chandler of Newton; grandchildren, Duane Nall, Brian Nall, Nick Hindman, Jr., Reagan Hindman, Matthew Hindman, Patrick Hindman, Erika Hindman, Sydney Bergman, Adrienne Bergman, Hunter Chandler and Logan Chandler; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Kathryn Davis of Pleasant Hill; sisters-in-law, Peggy (Dale) Gardner of Newton and Arleen Hindman of Hubbard; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clair; and sister, Mary Elizabeth“Betty” Green.
