Hawks win by forfeit

SULLY — Lynnville-Sully’s Class A sixth-ranked Hawks had the night off Friday. They were to have played at Danville, but Danville has forfeited the rest of its games because of small player numbers.

The Hawks (8-0) host Class A 10th-ranked Montezuma (6-2) at 7 p.m. Friday in Sully to finish up District 6 play. Lynnville-Sully is 6-0 in district play and Montezuma is 5-1.

Lynnville-Sully goes after its first district championship since 2012, an undefeated regular season and a playoff spot on Senior Night.

The Hawks will be in the Class A playoffs, which start Oct. 28, after Pekin upended New London 23-14 Friday in district play. Lynnville-Sully has the tiebreaker against New London — a head-to-head victory.

New London beat Montezuma earlier this season. New London and Pekin are both 4-2 in District 6 play.
