A two-car collision Oct. 7 left two men injured after one driver reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle.
Phillip B. Collins, 78, of Newton was traveling westbound at 4:43 p.m. in the 3100 block of North Fourth Avenue East when he could not see a stop sign due to the sun being directly in his eyes, according to a Newton Police Department report.
Collins traveled through the intersection and collided with a green 1999 Ford F-250. Both vehicles went into the ditch at the southwest corner of the intersection, knocking over a stop sign.
Collins was taken to Skiff Medical Center by ambulance. The other driver was checked and cleared by EMS at the scene.
Collins was cited with failure to obey a stop sign.
