Lynnville-Sully wins SICL Silver Quad for 5th place

SIGOURNEY — Lynnville-Sully heads into Tuesay’s Class 1A Region 4 volleyball tournament with a head of steam. The Hawks put the finishing touches on their regular season Thursday winning the South Iowa Cedar League conference Silver Quadrangular, taking fifth place in the conference.

Lynnville-Sully dispatched Tri-County 25-19, 25-21 in the first round Thursday to reach the fifth-place match. Sigourney, who hosted the Silver Quad, got past North Mahaska, 12-25, 27-25, 15-9.

The Hawks and Savages waged a four-set match in which Lynnville-Sully served 110-of-116 for 95 percent with 14 ace serves and pounded down 45 kills. The Hawks prevailed 25-14, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19.

SICL leader in digs Lynnville-Sully senior Brenna Lanser had 29 digs against Sigourney and delivered 21 kills. Lanser has 370 digs for the season, which is seventh best in Class 1A, after have 45 digs in the two matches Thursday. She had 33 kills on the night for a season-total of 186 kills — fifth best in the SICL.

Lanser finished the two-match night going 25-of-28 at the service line with three ace serves. She had one solo block.

Carson Fisk provided 52 set assists — 32 coming in the Sigourney match — for the Hawks in the quadrangular. Fisk also had 35 digs. Fisk was perfect at the service line in the two matches, 48-of-48 with eight aces serves — seven against Sigourney. Fisk had five kills, and two block assists.

Jataya Meyer had 11 kills, eight digs and one block assist on the night. Olivia Riter had three digs, went 2-of-2 serving and had one block assist. Makayla Rozendaal was credited with 12 digs in the two matches.

Jelissa Rozendaal went 18-of-18 with one ace serving against Sigourney for a 24-of-24 night at the service line for the Hawks. She had seven kills, eight set assists, 24 digs and one block assist.

Camryn Russell finished the night 39-of-40 serving with seven service aces. She had 10 kills, 21 digs, one solo block and one assisted block.

Lynnville-Sully served 95 percent as a team against Tri-County, 56-of-59. McKinley Conover finished 22-of-25 serving in the two matches with one ace and she had 25 digs. Shiloh Cunningham had seven kills, one solo block, two assisted blocks and went 6-of-7 serving on the night.

The Hawks won six straight matches to conclude the regular season. Lynnville-Sully (13-6) play at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Southeast Warren at Liberty Center in the opening round of the Class 1A Region 4 tournament.
