Hawks win fourth SICL match in a row

SULLY — In front of a home crowd Monday, Lynnville-Sully’s Hawks netted their four win in four South Iowa Cedar League conference volleyball matches.

On Senior Night, Lynnville-Sully defeated visiting Keota, 25-11, 25-11, 25-15. It was the final home match for five Hawk seniors — Jelissa Rozendaal, Olivia Ritter, Makenzy Rozendaal, Allison Renaud and Brenna Lanser.

Renaud went 14-of-15 serving with two ace serves and Ritter was 9-of-11 serving with two aces. Jelissa Rozendaal was 9-of-10 at the service line. Lanser had three service aces as she went 14-of-17.

Lanser pounded down 13 kills and had a block assist to lead the net attack for true Hawks. Ritter and Jelissa Rozendaal each had two kills. Ritter put up a block assist.

Sophomore Carson Fisk was the force at the service line for Lynnville-Sully in the match, going 32-of-35 and racking up six ace serves. Junior Camryn Russell was 9-of-9 serving with one ace.

Jataya Meyer, a junior, had four kills as did Russell. Junior Mariah Vos had two kills and junior Skyler Yong had two block assists at the net.

Fisk was credited with 19 set assists and Jelissa Rozendaal had four set assists.

Defensively, Ritter and Fisk each had 11 digs and Jelissa Rozendaal had 10 digs. Lanser made nine digs followed by Russell’s six digs. Meyer and Renaud each had four digs.

Lynnville-Sully take an 11-6 overall mark into Thursday’s SICL Silver Quadrangular at Sigourney. On the line will be fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth place finishes in conference standings.

North Mahaska plays Sigourney at 5:30 p.m. followed by Lynnville-Sully taking on Tri-County. The losers of the two matches play for seventh and eighth. The winners will play for fifth and sixth.

The Hawks open Class 1A Region 4 volleyball play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Southeast Warren.
