Alice Rosetta Bunker, 92, of Newton, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, at Skiff Medical Center. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at the funeral home. Memorials to the Center Friends Church or Amboy Grange may be left at the funeral home.

Alice, the daughter of Henry E. and Marie Carleone (Haines) Davis, was born June 21, 1924, in Mystic. Her family moved to Newton when she was a young girl. Alice graduated from Newton High School in 1942. After graduation, she worked as a secretary and sales person at Farm Bureau where she would meet her future husband, Raymond Bunker. On Sept. 18, 1949, Alice and Raymond were united in marriage at the Center Friends Church in rural Newton. They made their home on a farm northeast of Newton, where Alice was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. Alice enjoyed going to Newton Cardinal sporting events, doing word puzzles and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was also famous for her pies and spaghetti sauce.

Those left to honor Alice’s memory are her son, Dennis Bunker of Newton; daughter, Karen (Dale) Dorrell of Newton; four grandchildren, Kyle (Brea Valenzuela) Bunker of Salt Lake City, Utah, Michael (Beth) Dorrell of San Diego, Calif., Gabriel (Jenny) Dorrell of Monticello and Angela (Josh) Burnham of Grinnell; her five great-grandsons, Ethan, Noah, Elijah, Philip and Titus; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Bunker; brother, Billy (Barb) Davis; and two sisters, Bessie Clemons and Doris (Ken) Trotter.
