UCC hosts Pilgrim sandwiches fundraiser

Congregational UCC will celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving season with the sale of Pilgrim sandwiches on Oct. 15. Proceeds of the sale will be used to purchase gift cards for families in the process of reunification after foster care.

A Pilgrim sandwich, a favorite of retired pastor David Raymond who discovered it at an East Coast market, is a Thanksgiving meal in a bun: a hoagie bun with turkey, mayonnaise, cranberry relish and turkey stuffing. Chopped onions will be available on the side. A couple of homemade sugar cookies will be included with each sandwich.

The price of the sandwich is $8 and must be ordered by Oct. 10. They can be ordered by calling the church office at 641-792-3773 during office hours of 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.

If that is not available, call Duane Hobbs at 641-792-2687 or Linda Wormley at 641-275-7428.

The sandwiches can be picked up at the church from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the church, 308 E. Second St. N. in Newton.

Delivery will be available for orders of four or more.
