Barbara A. Jackson

Barbara A. Jackson, 87, of Newton, formerly of Sioux City, went home to be with Jesus Friday, Sept. 16, 2016. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7 at Community Height Alliance Church in Newton with Pastor John Patterson and Pastor Thomas Cackler officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.

Barbara was born July 25, 1929, in Sioux City, the daughter of Edward and Vera Albright. She graduated from Leeds High School. She was united in marriage to Phil L. Jackson Sept. 3, 1948, in Sioux City. She worked for the Sioux City Community Schools. Barbara and Phil retired in Leeds and enjoyed many summers in Two Harbors, Minn., and winters in Fredericksburg, Texas. They attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Leeds, and Central Baptist Church. Phil passed away July 7, 2013. Barbara moved to Newton, in March 2014, to be closer to family. She attended Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was involved in her church circles, camping and cooking. She used her many talents including home decorating, cooking, power shopping, sewing and gardening to enrich the lives of others. Barb, during her last year, spent many hours sewing doll clothes for her dolls and the dolls of her 10 great-granddaughters. Barbara shared her life with all those who met her and will be dearly missed in our lives.

Those left to honor her memory are the family she loved and treasured, her sons, Jan (Marilyn) Jackson and Chuck (Vickie) Jackson; a daughter Cynthia (Wolfgang) Boedeker; seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Jason) Taylor, Michael Jackson, Rachel (Aaron) Wood, Carrie (Cabe) March, Ben (Megan) Jackson, Marlise (Eduardo) Flores and Matthew Boedeker; 18 great-grandchildren, Emma, Hannah, Savannah and Abigail Taylor, Hope Jackson, Camden, Acacia, Auriel, Asher, Corbin and Corra Wood, Hayden, Cace and Jaxon March, Brynlee, Peyton and Jase Jackson and Itzel Flores; a brother, Keith Albright; and nephews Kevin, Jeff and Craig Albright.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Vera Albright; her husband, Phil; a granddaughter, Sarah Boedeker; and a sister-in-law, Kay Albright.
